Pre Season Training Details

Training will be starting on 16 November from the Clubrooms at 6pm.

George wants to go for a short run (20 min) and then catch up with everyone over a BBQ and a couple of frothies/softies.

Training will be on Monday and Thursday nights (6pm) up until Christmas, Mondays at Geilston Bay High while Thursday venues will vary depending on what's in store.  A schedule will be published on the website as soon as we have it.

Spread the word.  Let's set ourselves up for 2010 early.

2nd Assistant Coach confirmed

Daniel Archer to continue in new role.

After joining The Ships in 2009, Daniel has been offered, and accepted, the role of Assistant Coach to George, working alongside Jarrod.  While the lure of the big league was tempting, Arch was keen to build on what was an impressive debut season and we're exremely happy he did.

Senior Coach and Assistant Signed for 2010

The Club is excited to announce that George Stirling (pictured) has been signed as the Senior Coach for 2010 with Jarrod Read also joining us as one of his assistants.

George joins us after 2 years at Dodges Ferry as an Assistant and 2 years before that as an Assistant at Sorell.  Prior to trying his hand at coaching in the Regional league, George was a Triple Premiership player at Clarence, best known as a formidable key defender.

Jarrod is also a past Clarence Premiership Player (4 times), famous for a 4 goal burst in the 1997 Grand Final v Burnie.  Has been involved in coaching at State, Southern and Old Scholars level before so will be a great asset to the Club.

George's vitals:

Age: 34

Occupation: Cop

Relationship Status:  Married to Michelle

Kids:  Yep, 2

Nickname:  Stirlo

Jumper Number:  8 (maybe we can't retire it)

AFL Team:  Essendon

Position:  Full Back

Family Day and Training Details

On 15 November, we'll be holding a Family Day BBQ (Venue TBA).

This will give us all a chance to catch up, meet the new coaches and maybe have a pre-christmas frothy, before the silly season takes hold.

Training will be starting on 23 November (Venue TBA).

George plans to run training on Monday and Thursday nights up until Christmas.  We'll get 4 weeks in prior to the break and locations may vary depending on what's planned for that night.  Keep an eye on the website for more info closer to the date.
