Best Clubperson and Best First Year also to be awarded with the normal B&F, Runner Up, Most Consistent, Coaches, Most Improved etc for each grade.

Round 21 - 28 August - Channel @ Geilston Bay

Last game of the season so we'll be looking for 2 wins to go out on a positive. Sausage sizzle will be on during the day and we're hoping for a big crowd to celebrate the 200th game for the club for Mark Williams. There's talk that Banna, Proee, Bater and Doc will be lining up for the 1's for the last time as well.

The wash up will be running into the night.

Worst Kit Sunday is also on the cards.

Round 20 - 21 August - University @ University

The 1's led the ladder leaders for the majority of the day in a low scoring game, but in the end ran out of legs and saw Uni kick 4 goals 6 in the last to our 1.3, losing in the end by 17 points. Big PJ Stanley was great in the ruck (although couldn't snag an award at SOHO for some reason). Vehicle, Bung and Borrie Burnett were good around the ground and Mantis and Skeggsy held down key positions with high marking and spoiling all day.

It was last roll of the dice time for the 2's, and for 3 quarters they were working harder and playing well. In the end though, the energy spent in the first three meant we fell away in the last, losing by 31 points and seeing the faint chance of finals ended. The backline worked hard all day but were led brilliantly by Doc Ryan, with support from Nicko Balcombe, Alfie Hollick and Rye Hunt when he was back there. Duck Gillies worked hard under the packs all day and Grabba was tireless as normal.

Round 19 - 14 August - Hutchins @ Queenborough

The Seniors put up a good contest for 3 quarters with Hutchins running away a bit in the last. Inaccuracy cost us, with the side having 2 more scoring shots, but with 21 behinds kicked, lost by 38 points. Bung Langford played well through the midfield as did Macca and Skeggsy. Proee and Mantis were tireless wherever they were thrown and Zaccy Burnett ran hard all day, as we expect.

The 2's were within a couple of kicks all day again, but also with more scoring shots than the opposition couldn't get over the line, losing by 7 points. It was a pretty even effort from many, but the standouts were Coley (helping out again) in the middle, Flash everywhere, Gav Vincent on his wing (even though Grumpy Pete tried to knock him out), Jezza and Alfie in the back half, and Nicko Balcombe presenting all day at CHF.

Round 18 - 7 August - St Virgils @ Geilston Bay

Seniors couldn't get there after playing catchup all day, and that's officially curtains for finals. Reserves had a good win to keep their chances alive, although still one game behind Richmond.

Round 17 - 31 July - DOSA @ Geilston Bay

Two wins over the Little Red Rooster. Good Day.

Seniors dominate from early on to win by 70 points. Reserves hold on to get there by a point, after leading all day.

Round 16 - 24 July - Richmond @ Richmond

2's go down by 20 and the 1's by 18.

2's lost it in the 2nd quarter when they let 6 goals in unanswered. The 1's started slow and spent all day trying to make up ground.

Team Of The Decade 2000-2009 Announced

We hope all that attended the Team of the Decade night on Friday (the 16th of July) enjoyed themselves and would like to congratulate everyone who was named in the side. Photos should be surfacing soon, hopefully not of the early hours training session. All named in the side will be receiving a Team of the Decade Caricature in the mail in the coming weeks. Congratulations also to Sam Bowering who won the Team of the Decade competition by picking 20 players of the 22, just pipping Mark Williams, who also had 20, but not quite as many in position.

Round 15 - 17 July - BYE

Round 14 - 10 July - Channel @ Snug

Numbers are down, can the boys stand up......... They sure can. With the Seniors straightened up by the hard leading Leppa, and the 2's helped along by the inclusions of Cole and Dillon, 2 wins made their way back from Channel. A good feeling to take into the Bachelor, where many flew through, and some struggled.

Round 13 - 3 July - University @ Geilston Bay

2's get up to keep finals hopes alive against top of the table Uni. 1's start slow and struggle to make it up all day.

Round 12 - 26 June - St Virgils @ New Town

2 losses, no good. Both winnable at three quarter time.

Round 11 - 19 June - Hutchins @ Geilston Bay

Reserves win and Seniors Draw. Girls team infiltrates clubrooms to win Quiz Night.

Round 10 - 12 June - DOSA @ North Hobart

First visit to North Hobart for a couple of years. Things didn't go according to plan. The 2's didn't seem too far out of it for most of the day, but went down by 45, the 1's came home strong to just fall short by 4 points.

On a day when the 2's were hoping to drag themselves off the bottom of the ladder, the better skills and decision making of DOSA meant we were playing catch up all day. We struggled out of the centre, but once it went forward, the bodywork of Leroy Taylor (6 goals) was getting the job done. Jez Stuart was once again our best, floating across half back. Keany, Gav Vincent, Merg's and Paul Taylor also attacked the ball hard all day, but in the end it was left to too few again.

The Seniors got out of the blocks with a 4 goal first quarter, but let DOSA take the ascendancy with a 4 goal quarter of their own in the second, to have a 16 point lead at half time. The thrid quarter was tight but dominated by OHA's inaccuracy in front of goal, kicking 9 behinds. The radar was working in the last quarter though, kicking 7.1 and making a run for it, combined with a faulty scoreboard there was some confusion at the end as to who had finished in front. Finally it was confirmed that DOSA had the advantage by 4 points.

Brodie "Bung" Langford presented all day from Centre Half Forward and was our best. Vehicle Thompson ran hard and bobbed up for a couple of goals in the last quarter. Stirlo and Charger battled hard all day and the skills of Zukauskas and Banks were on song.

Round 9 - 5 June - BYE

Round 8 - 29 May - Richmond @ Geilston Bay

Last time they met - 1's lost, 2's won (night game at Richmond)..... This time, 1's win and 2's lose.

In an embarrassing day for the 2's, what was a closely fought contest in the wet first half took a strange turn in the 3rd quarter when a head count saw Richmond with 19 on the field, and their score reduced to zero, giving us a 53 point lead. Then, we stopped. Richmond kicked 11 goals to our 1 from that point and ran away 19 point winners. Jezza Stuart battled hard all day in his first game back for the season and had some assistance from Freezer, Leppa, Mergs and Boof.

The 1's were a different story though, notching their third win for the season, and taking some form into the bye next week. After a tight first quarter, things opened up in the second with the backline getting on top and Scott Jury kicking 4 of the team's 8 goals for the quarter. The 29 point lead taken into half time was then maintained for the rest of the match. The run and carry of Ben 'Wig' Langford and Marc 'Vehicle' Thompson was telling when it counted and McCAllum worked hard under the packs all day. Jury finished with 9 taking him to the top of the OSFA goal kickers list and the veteran, Doc Ryan, returned to the side to blanket whoever Richmond tried at full forward. Even Stirlo managed to sneak forward for his first goal in OHA colours.

With no official function organised for the evening, Torch took the opportunity to run an armwrestling comp and was reported to have been undefeated in the super lightwieght division. Jonathan Wells was the man to beat for the majority of the evening with event organisers salivating at the chance of a Wells v Probert contest in the future.

Round 7 - 22 May - Channel @ Geilston Bay

Big day for the Club. A win in both grades, and the first Sponsors Day for the year.

Both sides had been showing glimpses of form and managed to put it together for close to 4 quarters each. The 2's got up by 39 points in what was a much closer game than that for most of the day. Chris Hevey had sticky fingers in the forward 50, dragging in 12 contested marks and finishing with 5 majors. Also handy in the forward half was big Grabba, who finished with a career best performance of 4 goals. The side was boosted by the inclusion of Marshall Pestrucci who gave the onballers first use out of the centre. When the game was up for grabs, Matt Joyce and Paul Taylor grabbed it, with their ferocious attack on the footy, while Shaun 'Duck' Gillies was inspirational off a half back flank, and Banger added his trademark dash and finishing skills off a wing.

For the Seniors, a 104 point win had to mean one thing.... Scott Jury and Sam Bowering had fun up forward. with 16 goals between them, Bowering was deadly from all angles as usual, while Jury had the opposition sending extra players back to try to stop him, but still managed to get his first 10 goal haul for the Club. McCallum and the Langford boys got in the act as well, as PJ Stanley and Nick Skeggs worked tirelessly in the middle. Let's hope it's the kickstart needed to get the season going.

Inside, it looked like the Sponsors were enjoying their day, with plenty staying on into the evening. An extremely important part of our Club, we thank them all for their support in season 2010.

Round 6 - 15 May - Uni @ Uni

Another disappointing day for both grades.

SOHO afterwards for awards and a meal and some great story telling from Jury and Torch.

Round 5 - 8 May - Hutchins @ Queenborough

Seniors get their first win of the season while the 2's lost it with 15 minutes of poor footy in the second quarter.

Round 4 - 1 May - St Virgils @ Geilston Bay

2 losses again. Work to do.

Round 3 - 24 Aril - DOSA @ Geilston Bay

Both side went down at home.

Round 2 - 17 April - Richmond @ Richmond (Night)

A mixed results start with the Reserves getting up but the Seniors not quite after leading early in the last quarter.

Round 1 - 10 April - BYE

2nd Assistant Coach confirmed

Daniel Archer to continue in new role.

After joining The Ships in 2009, Daniel has been offered, and accepted, the role of Assistant Coach to George, working alongside Jarrod.  While the lure of the big league was tempting, Arch was keen to build on what was an impressive debut season and we're exremely happy he did.
